Marquette, MI – March 10th, 2026 – Today we were lucky enough to be joined by the newly announced 2026 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Matt Majkrzak. We had a great conversation about his journey to Northern Michigan University and how he first got started in coaching. We also talked about the memorable moment when NMU hosted Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball in front of nearly 12,000 fans at the Superior Dome.
We also discussed Max Weisbrod, NMU’s former GLIAC Player of the Year during the 2023–24 season. Weisbrod has since moved up to the Division I level, starting his next chapter with the Northern Iowa Panthers men’s basketball. Northern Iowa recently won its conference tournament, punching its ticket to NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
