Holding a six point lead, the Marquette Redmen were playing some great basketball going into the second quarter. Points were traded back and forth, but the Redmen were able to retain the lead thanks to some great ball movement up the court. Marquette’s defense was also having a standout game, despite being crippled by illness. With just over two minutes left in the first half, the Redmen’s lead remained frozen, and they would go into their locker room with the advantage for the second half of play.

Still leading the Hematites, the Marquette Redmen only had to hang on for one more half of play. Something seemed to have clicked during halftime for the Redmen, and they came out of the break ready to win. They were able to extend their lead to 15 points in less than two minutes, and they just kept adding to their total as the third quarter progressed. The score was 56-30 with one minute left in the third, and it looked as though the Redmen would take home the win if they could hold off the Hematites in the final quarter.

The Marquette Redmen were playing some great basketball going into the final quarter of the game, and soon it was 64-30. Ishpeming seemed defeated, and the Redmen’s full-court press defense was giving their offense fits. As the minutes fell off the scoreboard, Ishpeming was forced to burn their fouls and timeouts in order to put some kind of stop to Marquette’s drive. For the second game this year, every Marquette player was able to score a point during the game, and with under three minutes, they held a nearly 30-point lead. The score was 71-36 with :90 seconds left, and Marquette would take home the win.
