Negaunee, MI- May 4th, 2017- The Negaunee Miner’s baseball team was looking to get two wins against the Norway Knights and get their record back to even. It would not be an easy task for the Miners as the Knights we’re coming in hungry to get two victories for themselves.

It would not be the start Negaunee was looking for. The lead-off man for the Knights would draw a walk and would eventually score on a passed ball at home plate. The Miners we’re able to respond with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first inning. After tying the game back up in the first, Negaunee had a nice top half of the second. They were able to make it a 1,2,3 inning. Negaunee would have a great opportunity in the bottom of the inning after getting the first two men on base, but were unable to capitalize. It was a stressful for both teams in the 3rd inning but it was the Negaunee Miners who were able to take the lead. They added a run after an error was committed at 3rd base.

The top of the fourth was rough for the miners as they would let the Knights retake the lead. Norway would add two in the top of the inning. Negaunee was unable to answer in the fourth as their batters would go 1,2,3. The Miners would dig themselves a bigger whole in the top of the fifth. Norway was able to add two more runs and really put Negaunee’s back against the wall. What a rally the Miners would have in the fifth. Down three runs and running out of time, they were able to add four runs and reclaim the lead. And that would seal the victory for the Miners but not without a little bit of stress in the top of the sixth before they were able to close things out.
