Marquette, MI – 8/21/17 – The Detroit Tigers managed to salvage on win against the MLB’s best team the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Tigers outfielder Justin Upton added a two run bomb leading the Tigers to a 6-1 victory. Justin Verlander walked on a struck out nine in his victory that brought him to a 9-8 record on the season. Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda also had a no-hitter into the sixth but gave up four runs on five hits in the sixth inning. The Tigers will have a day off before taking on the New York Yankees for a three game series.
The Detroit Lions came away with a 16-6 victory over the New York Jets at home on Saturday. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had a solid game going 8 for 10 for 84 yards and a touchdown. Lions back up quarterback Jake Rudock had some action as well and finished 8 0f 13 for 84 yards. The Lions will host the New England Patriots on Friday.
The Green Bay Packers beat the Washington Redskins in Washington on Saturday 21-17. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers played going 6 of 8 for 37 yards and a touchdown pass. Rodgers in his short amount of time completed passes to Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams. The Packers will play away at the Denver Broncos on Saturday.
