Marquette, MI – November 12, 2018 – Today marked the opening day of the Michigan High School Girls Basketball season. Girls basketball teams across the state started practice today. Ben Olsen, head girls coach at Gwinn, joined the Sports drive to talk about his team, the girls basketball landscape across the U.P., and his take of the referee shortage affecting the Upper Peninsula.
Ishpeming’s season ended on Saturday with a 12-6 loss to Breckenridge at home in the regional final. The Hematites finished 11-1 on the season, and Mark and Luke discuss how it puts into perspective just how special a state championship run is.
