Marquette, MI – October 20th, 2025 – With another week in the books, teams are preparing for what could be their final game of the season. Both Negaunee and Marquette have a great opportunity to secure a postseason spot with a win this week.
The Ishpeming Hematites came up short this past weekend, playing without Grady Gauthier. Derek Meyer and Dax Kakkuri stepped up and took on bigger roles. The Hematites kept it close with Newberry in the first half, trailing just 6-0 at halftime, but struggled in the second half and couldn’t find an answer. With the loss, Ishpeming falls to 2-6 on the season and will host Pickford this Friday night.
Negaunee Miners dominated in their game this past weekend, controlling the entire game from the start. If not for a late touchdown run from Houghton’s Braydon Goudge, the Miners would have earned a shutout (42-6). Miners improved to 5-3 on the season. Owen Cardinal continues to improve as he took over for the injured Kyle Waterman a few weeks ago. Miners are set to have their rescheduled homecoming game this week when they host Iron Mountain in a must win game.
