NFL week one in in the books following Monday nights double-header. The first game of the night was the Minnesota Vikings taking on the New Orleans Saints in Minnesota. Former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson would be making his first start as a Saint and first game against his former team. Peterson ran for 18 yards on 6 carries and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford lit up the Saints defense throwing 27 of 32 passes with no turnovers and three touchdowns in the 29-19 victory. Vikings rookie Dalvin Cook had a great day on the ground rushing for 127 yards on 22 carries.
The second game of the night was a barn burner as the Denver Broncos escaped with a 24-21 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Chargers kicker Younghoe Koo attempted a 44-yard game tying field goal in the final seconds and connected, only problem, Denver head coach Vance Joseph called a time out right before the snap, the play didn’t count and Koo would be faced with making another kick to tie the game, unfortunately Broncos Shelby Miller blocked the kick and the Broncos move to 1-0 on the season. Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian threw to touchdown passes to Bennie Fowler and ran for another score in the victory.
