Marquette, Michigan – February 27th, 2018 – A battle between the Redmen and ModelTowners from Marquette Senior High School on Tuesday night was one for the books! Both teams fought fiercely and Gwinn outplayed Marquette in the first quarter. That didn’t stop the Redmen to come back with a 65-35 win over the Gwinn ModelTowners.
The ModelTowners proved they were ready for this match-up as the clock ran out in the first quarter and the Redmen trailed the ModelTowners, 19-14.
Gwinn’s basketball to start the second quarter from MSHS. 21-20 point game with Gwinn having the advantage over the Redmen. Much better second quarter for Marquette than the first quarter. Marquette turns the scoreboard around with a one point lead over the ModelTowners, 22-21. 3 point lead for Marquette 24-21. Beauchamp drove to the basket but missed it with just over one minute in the first quarter. Going into the half the Redmen lead the ModelTowners 32-23.
11 point lead for the Redmen, 34-23. Foul called against Marquette as the clock just started ticking in the second half. The largest lead of the game comes in the second half for the Redmen with 14 points over the ModelTowners. Marquette was outscoring Gwinn in the second quarter, 48-31. 17 point game and it wasn’t over yet…
Better advantage for Marquette than it was in the first quarter. 20 point lead for Marquette 55-35 with 3 minutes left to go in the game. Time is not in the ModelTowners corner as the Marquette Redmen
defeat the Gwinn ModelTowners on their home turf, 65-35.
