Redmen Beat Wildcats Convincingly 49-14 on 103.3 WFXD

Marquette, MIAugust 26th, 2021 – The Marquette Redmen kicked their season off Thursday evening against the visiting Alpena Wildcats. With a heavy hitting defense, Marquette comes back from a well-performed previous year.

1st Quarter. The Wildcats receives the opening kickoff from the Redmens to start off their new season. Marquette’s own Alex Schlemm (55) opens the first quarter with a charging defense sacking Alpena’s Jacob Zann (5) with a loss of 3 yards, ending at 3rd and 15. An 11 yard punt to Marquette driving into 31 yards of Alpena territory. The Marquette Redmens own Owen Beauchamp had back-to-back receptions all while wearing a massive cast. The Redmens own Austin Ridl (11) passed to Justin Jurmu (9) for a 38 yard touchdown. Marquette leads another touchdown before the end of the first quarter from Desmond Mullen (22). The first quarter comes to a close at 13-0 with the Redmens in the lead.

2nd Quarter. Breaking off the Wildcat and Redmen game with a 24 yard screen pass from the Alpena Wildcats number 32 Kadyn Budnick. Pushing all the way to the goal line, the strong Marquette defense  keeps the Wildcats from scoring. The Alpena at 1st and goal were held all the way to a turnover by downs. Marquette gets the ball at the 4 yard line and 1st and 10. Austin Ridl from the Marquette Redmen pass to Eberhard for a 98 yard pass 1st and goal. David Eberhard lost the football but made an incredible recovery. Marquette snaps the ball to Dustin Lohfink for a 4 yard rush into the endzone. After getting the ball back yet again the Redmens Austin Ridl has a 64 yard rush for a touch down. Marquette leads with 27 and the two point conversion. 27-0 with Marquette in the lead.

3rd Quarter. In the last half of the game the Redmens score yet again as Austin Ridl passes the ball to Jordan Demay (2) who completes the pass for a 52 yard touchdown. Marquette leads the field 33-0. Desmond Mullen (22) slips into the endzone for Marquettes two point conversion 35 to 0. Nate benninger getting some time on the field and completes his first pass of the night. Down at the 13 the Marquette scores another touchdown from Justin Jurmu and they go for the extra point. Ending the 3rd quarter 42-0 Marquette.

4th Quarter. In the last quarter of the game, the Alpena Wildcat and Marquette Redmens faced off. Alpena Wildcasts own Jason Smolinski (30) completes pass for a 7 yard gain. Finally, Alpena passes to Smolinski for their two point conversion after their first touchdown by Brady Pagels (3) and its good. 49-8 in the fourth quarter and Marquette is looking good. The Wildcats looking to turn this game around Mason Mumford gains a first down for Alpena. The Aplena’s own Jacon Zann (5) passes to mumford and it is complete. Rewarding the Alpenas with another touchdown. The Marquette Redmens end the game with 49 points to The Alpena Wildcats with 14.

 

Catch The Redmen team next Friday on September 2nd as the team heads to Traverse City. The game will be broadcast live on 103.3 WFXD pregame at 6:20pm kickoff at 7pm.
