Redmen Basketball Takes Home 58-49 Victory Over Eskymos
- Updated: February 18, 2019

Marquette, MI – February 18, 2019 – The Marquette Redmen Varsity Basketball team took home a 58-49 victory against the Escanaba Eskymos tonight on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
Marius Grazulis got the opening bucket for the Redmen to start Marquette out at 2-0. After an Eskymos answer, the Redmen went on a 6-0 run for a score of 8-2.
Escanaba stayed within striking distance of Marquette, but the quarter ended with a 14-11 Redmen lead.
The Redmen stayed in control in the first minutes of the second quarter. However, an Eskymos triple improved Escanaba to within one basket of the Redmen, soon to be tied up at 18-18.
The Eskymos pulled out front briefly, but Ethan Martysz was able to tie it back up with a triple for a score of 21-21.
Escanaba and Marquette traded the lead several times before the Eskymos pulled away by a few possessions. It looked like the Redmen would tie it up at best before the buzzer, but a clutch triple from Bryce Brazeau gave the Redmen a 30-27 lead going into the second half.
Ethan Martysz opened the third quarter with a triple to improve the Redmen to 33-27. Another Bryce Brazeau triple gave the Redmen a nine-point lead, the largest lead at that point in the game.
Marquette protected a nine-point lead, give or take a bucket or two, for most of the quarter. The Redmen started the fourth with a 46-38 lead.
The Eskymos experienced a surge with a 5-0 run to start the final quarter. Escanaba was able to tie it up at 47-47.
Luke Ogea answered with a triple to bring the Redmen back out front.
The Redmen pulled away slightly in the final minutes to solidify the 58-49 win and achieve a perfect 8-0 Great Northern Conference record.
