Redmen Basketball Flatten Menominee Maroons, 64-29
- Updated: January 17, 2020

Menominee, MI – January 17, 2020 – The Marquette Redmen Varsity Basketball team steamrolled the Menominee Maroons tonight with a 64-29 victory on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
A Justin Jurmu triple opened the game to give the Redmen a 3-0 lead. Kam Karp followed up with a three-pointer to improve to 6-0. It seemed everyone was shooting from the arc as Menominee got in on the action to improve to 6-3 behind the Redmen.
At one point the Maroons slashed the Marquette lead to 8-5, but the Redmen pulled away at the end of the period. A Lincoln Sager triple helped bring the Marquette lead to 13-5 before the buzzer.
The early lead propelled the Redmen into the second period as they continued to distance themselves from the Maroons at 21-9 with several minutes left in the half. Menominee flirted with a single-digit deficit several times in the quarter, but the Redmen seemed to always have an answer and then some. Another Sager triple before the buzzer brought the score to 32-14 going into halftime.
The second half saw the Redmen run away with the lead. They jumped out to 38-16, allowing just one Menominee bucket in the third quarter. The Maroons could not seem to stop the bleeding as the Redmen lead crept up to 51-16.
The Redmen kept up their punishing pace as a Collin Hicks triple brought it to 54-16. A 40-point lead starts the running clock, and Hicks followed up with another triple to start that clock. The final quarter of play arrived quickly, and Menominee still could not find a way to gain any traction against the onslaught the Redmen put forth tonight.
Marquette’s Ty Lotterman led all scorers this evening with 24 points overall, more than the entire Menominee squad for most of the game. The Maroons got their feet under them late in the quarter to improve to 60-25 with three minutes to go on a running clock. The 64-29 Redmen victory was of course inevitable though as they improve to 3-1 on the season in the GNC.
Tune in on Tuesday, January 21st to catch the Redmen face off against the Ishpeming Hematites on 97.5 GTO. Pregame starts at 6:30 pm, tip off is at 7:00 pm.
