The Redmen got off to a rough start in the first half of their regional playoff game against the Midland Chemics at Gaylord High School.
Midland started with an 8-0 run, Marquette struggling offensively throughout the first period. The Redmen only put up one successful shot and the Chemics stayed well in the lead with a score of 12-2 at the buzzer.

The second period was a slight improvement for the Redmen.
A couple of quick Midland baskets suggested the second would go the same way as the first. But, Luke Ogea broke the spell and put up the first points in the quarter. A Drew Wyble bucket followed in short order, and Ogea followed up with another basket to get the Redmen within nine points of the Chemics.
Midland stayed out in front at 17-8 for several minutes as both teams struggled to make a basket. A couple of Chemics triples just before the buzzer extended the Redmen deficit though, and Midland led with a score of 23-8 going into the half.

A couple of early buckets from Drew Wyble were answered by the Chemics at the start of the second half. A Bryce Brazeau basket followed to get the Redmen within 11 points. It seemed a momentum swing was brewing, but Midland persevered. The Chemics led the Redmen 31-17 at the start of the final quarter.
The Chemics did not let up in the fourth. Midland was firing on all cylinders while Marquette continued to struggle to find a rhythm offensively. The 49-26 Chemics victory will end the Redmen regional playoff run.
