Redettes Basketball Takes Down Houghton Gremlins (76-31)
- Updated: February 6, 2019

Marquette, MI – February 6, 2019 – The Marquette Redettes Varsity Basketball team defeated the Houghton Gremlins 76-31 this evening on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
The Redettes stepped out onto court and set a break-neck pace for the Houghton Gremlins. Marquette’s offensive efforts in the first half were nothing short of spectacular.
Avery Ledy got things going with a bucket right out of the gate. An Aspen Michelin double followed by a triple completed a 7-0 Redettes scoring run to start the first quarter.
The Redettes stayed firmly in control. A Ledy three-pointer brought the Redettes to 14-2. Houghton struggled to hit their shots, but started to make some headway.
The Gremlins’ efforts just weren’t enough though, and the Redettes went into the second quarter with a 24-8 lead.
Michelin drilled another triple to start out the second period. Again, the Redettes controlled play and racked up the points.
A Sydney Kivi bucket with 44 seconds to go brought the score to a whopping 41-18 going into the half.
Dominant does not begin to describe the Redettes’ showing in Houghton tonight. The second half was as face-paced as the first.
A 12-0 scoring run started out the third quarter. It looked like the Gremlins would be shut out of the quarter all together, but they got on the board for a score of 53-20.
The Redettes did not let up, however, and the final quarter started out at 59-24.
The Gremlins continued to take a beating. A Madison Carter three-point play triggered the running clock about half way through the period. A Reegan Ketzenberger bucket shortly thereafter brought the Redettes to 74-28
At the buzzer you could see the steam rising off of the scoreboard as the 76-31 final score registered.
Avery Ledy led all scorers with a blistering 19 points. Sydney Kivi and Madison Carter had 17 points each. Aspen Michelin, yet another scorcher, had 15 points. Reegan Ketzenberger and Kayley Elmblad rounded out the scorers with 4 points each.
The Redettes will be back in action on Friday, February 8th to take on the Kingsford Flivvers at home on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9. Tune in for the pregame show at 6:45 pm, tip off is at 7:15 pm.
