Redettes Basketball Defeats TCW Titans 45-28

Marquette, MI – December 14, 2019 – The Marquette Redettes Varsity Basketball team took home a 45-28 victory over the Traverse City West (TCW) Titans today on 97.5 GTO.
The Marquette Redettes controlled the first quarter handily. Maria Millado started with a stunning block against Emma Gustafson. Millado stole the ball on the next play and got fouled on the way up. She was robbed of her free throws, however, and Sofia van den Ende was instead the first to strike for the Redettes.

The Redettes stayed out front at 8-2 with just two minutes to go. The Titans slashed that lead to 8-4 before the buzzer, but Marquette stayed in the driver’s seat going into the second quarter.
The Titans began the second quarter by tying up the score at 8-8. Marquette quickly regained the lead though at 10-8 in a much tighter quarter than the first.
Both teams struggled on the offensive end throughout the quarter. The Titans were on a scoring drought all the way to the buzzer after tying it up. Marquette had better luck getting things going late in the quarter. A Maddie Carter free throw put the Redettes up to 13-8, and then an Aspen Michelin triple put Marquette at 16-8 going into the second half.
Again TCW struggled offensively as the Redettes continued to control play coming back from halftime. Marquette stayed out front at 23-10 with just a couple of minutes to go in the third quarter.
A Natalie Tripp buzzer beater put the Redettes at 29-14 going into the final quarter of play. Maria Millado was on fire at the start of the fourth, putting up a couple of buckets and forcing an and one opportunity to improve Marquette to 36-18 over the Titans.
Reegan Ketzenberger got the steal and over to Millado who put it up and in for a whopping 20-point lead over the Titans as time was running out for TCW.
The Titans were just no match for the Redettes in an exciting, if lopsided, game. Marquette sealed their 45-28 victory to keep their 2019-2020 season in top shape.
The Redettes are back in action on Tuesday, December 17th on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9. Tune in at 6:45 pm for the pregame show, tip off is at 7:15 pm.
