First Period: Each of these teams started the game at a slower pace. Neither team could really get into rhythm early on. Both the Redmen and the Miners sent a couple of players to the penalty box, but neither team could capitalize on the opportunities.
Redmen Jace Moore scored his first goal of the year with the assist from Jake Garrow at 14:09. That would be followed up not even a minute later when Jackson Potulny would bury one in the net to give the Redmen a 2-0 lead.
S.O.G.: Marquette 21, Neguanee 2
Second Period: The Redmen came out of the locker room strong. Jackson Potulny would put one on net only a minute into the period. His second goal of the night brought the Marquette lead to 3-0. Negaunee’s goaltender had a long night, as a little over a minute later Jackson Potulny would finish his hat trick.

The Redmen were looking to jump on this huge momentum shift and try to end the game early. Brock Taylor would get a goal, and Potulny would score his fifth goal not too long after. Dylan Baldwin would score two goals of his own along with Jack Sides getting in the goal column as well. The slew of second period goals brought the Redmen lead to 9-0 with the mercy rule in effect to forgo the third period.
