Redmen Hockey Puts Bay City to Bed Early With 8-0 Win
- Updated: December 28, 2018

Marquette, MI – December 28, 2018 – The Marquette Redmen Varsity Hockey team were unstoppable against the Bay City Wolves at home tonight on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and 103 FXD.
Marquette Redmen Hockey burned the Bay City Wolves with an 8-0 win tonight. The game ended early as the deficit was just too much for the Wolves to overcome.
The first period started a little slow, the Redmen finding their rhythm several minutes in to what would end up being an exciting night for Marquette.
Naturally, the first goal of the game belonged to the Redmen. Sean O’Connor flicked the puck in at 11:18 for a 1-0 lead over Bay City.
A Marquette power play yielded no goals with three minutes to go, but the Redmen were just getting started.
Andrew Fedrizzi found the back of the net at 16:34, with some help from Kobie Guidebeck and Ben Hyde, just before the buzzer. The Redmen entered the second period at 2-0 over the Bay City Wolves.
Bay City came out in the second period slapping their sticks on the ice, trying to bolster their energy in a still attainable game.
Marquette goalie Brennen Hakkola kept busy defending the Redmen goal against the Wolves’ new-found intensity. Hakkola had 10 saves overall.
The Wolves could not stop the Redmen offense, however. Freshman Austin Ridl, a call-up from the JV team, scored his first goal as a varsity player at 6:54 for a 3-0 Redmen lead.
Sean O’Connor was back again in short order with a goal at 8:59 for a 4-0 lead over the Wolves.
Tanner Phillips wanted in on the action too. Phillips, with help from Fedrizzi, slipped the puck in for a 5-0 lead, and the first short-handed goal of the game.
Not to be outdone, Ansel Frost picked up his first goal of the game for a whopping 6-0 lead over the Wolves going into the final period.
Marquette didn’t wait long into the third period, 55 seconds to be exact, to improve to 7-0 over Bay City. It was Ryan Baldwin who found the back of the net with a little help from Phillips.
Baldwin then ended the game early with his second goal of the night shortly following his first. The 8-0 win over the Wolves is a strong start to a weekend of Redmen hockey.
The Redmen are at home again tomorrow, Saturday, December 29th against the Sault Ste Marie Blue Devils at 3:00 pm, pregame at 2:30 pm. Listen to all the action on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
