Marquette High School Hockey Secures Thrilling Overtime Victory on Senior Night!

Marquette, MI – February 11, 2025 – The Marquette High School Hockey Sentinels took to their home ice tonight for Senior Night, facing off against the Hancock Bulldogs in their final regular-season game before the playoffs. After suffering a tough 1-6 loss the last time these teams met, Marquette came in determined to turn the tables. With a packed crowd cheering them on, the Sentinels delivered a hard-fought battle, capping off the night with a dramatic overtime win! Fans tuned in live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, where Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey brought every intense moment of the action.

Honoring Our Seniors

Game Recap

First Period
The game opened with both teams battling hard, exchanging shots in an evenly matched period. Hancock managed to sneak the puck past Cole Kelly to take an early lead. Despite Marquette firing nine shots on goal, they couldn’t break through the Bulldogs’ defense.

Score: Marquette 0 – 1 Hancock

Second Period
Marquette fought back in the second, showing incredible determination. Skyler Blackburn found the net on his third rebound attempt, finally putting the Sentinels on the scoreboard! Both teams pushed hard, but the defenses held strong, keeping the game locked in a tie heading into the final period.

Score: Marquette 1 – 1 Hancock

Third Period
Marquette turned up the pressure, thrilling the home crowd with a beautiful top-shelf goal during a 5-on-5 play. The Sentinels’ lead didn’t last long, as Hancock managed to slip another shot past Cole Kelly, sending the game into overtime!

Score: Marquette 2 – 2 Hancock

Overtime
With the game on the line, Brody Sheldon stepped up and delivered a top-shelf snipe to secure a Marquette victory! The crowd erupted in cheers as the Sentinels celebrated their hard-earned win, ending their regular season on a high note.
