First Period:

Marquette High School Hockey came out strong, scoring within the first 10 minutes of the game. It was evident the team had learned from their previous matchup, tightening their defense and controlling the puck more effectively. Despite several icings, the Sentinels kept the Gremlins off the scoreboard, ending the period with a narrow but hard-earned lead.

Score: Marquette 1 – 0 Houghton

Second Period:

Houghton managed to equalize with a goal from Connor Arko, but the Sentinels quickly reclaimed the lead just 11 seconds later thanks to Houghton’s goalie, who accidentally knocked the puck into their goal while trying to make a save. Due to this, Marquette was able to hold onto their lead, energizing fans. Another goal from Houghton into Marquette’s net leveled the score again, however, Jack Pond, seeing an opportunity, set up a brilliant play that sunk the puck into Houghton’s goal to secure Marquette’s lead going into the third period.

Score: Marquette 3 – 2 Houghton

Third Period:

The final period was a test of endurance and determination. Cole Kelly made a crucial save early in the period, helping Marquette High School Hockey maintain their edge. Both teams fought fiercely, but Marquette held strong. With six minutes left, Jack Pond nearly added another goal, but Houghton’s goalie, Brycyn Nettell, made the quick save. As the clock approached the final minute, fans were on edge, wondering if the Sentinels could seal the victory.
