The Redettes won the game’s opening tip, and Aspen Michelin wasted no time making a layup and drawing a foul in the process. Michelin converted the and-one, and shortly thereafter added two more to give Marquette an early 5-0 lead. TCC wasn’t deterred though, and quickly cut the lead to 5-4. The offensive pace was hectic through the first quarter, and through forced turnovers and steady shooting, the Redettes held a 14-11 advantage after one.

Marquette gained some momentum early in the second quarter when Aspen Michelin kept her impressive night going with a quick bucket. Things slowed down after that for both teams, as shots weren’t falling as easily as they were in the first quarter. Aspen Michelin was the exception to the rule, as she had 14 points at the half. Behind strong play from Michelin that included a late triple, Marquette led 24-15 at halftime.
The Redettes came out charging in the third quarter, with early points from Rayna Warchock and Maria Millado fueling a 9-0 run to start the frame. Even after the run ended, stellar shooting from Michelin, Millado, and Sofia van den Ende allowed the Redettes to extend their lead. TCC was able to stop the bleeding, but not before Marquette opened up a 37-21 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Marquette had all but sewn up the win after their impressive third quarter performance, but they showed no signs of slowing down in the final stanza of the game. The Trojans fought hard in the final minutes, but Marquette held them off and came out with a 49-35 victory and their 6th District Tournament win in a row.
