Marquette Redettes Top Menominee Maroons On Senior Night, 48-39
- Updated: February 8, 2023

Marquette, MI – February 8, 2023 – The Marquette Redettes played host to the Menominee Maroons on Senior Night on Wednesday. The Great Northern Conference match up was broadcast live with Luke Ghiardi from Barb Crill Gymnasium on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9!
Menominee would strike first with a second chance bucket from Anna Axtell. Marquette answered back with an Eliina Brazeau three banking home to give the Redettes the lead. Axtell would nail a three of her own to give the Maroons a 7-3 lead. Marquette’s defense gave them great scoring opportunities, but struggled to turn it into points. Turnovers were a problem for both teams as the first quarter remained quiet. Marquette was able to tie things up at the end of the quarter with a big shot from Brooke Logan.

Redette Warm Ups
Meghan MacPhee cashed in on the first points in the quarter to give the Redettes an early lead. Brooke Logan would rattle home another shot from mid-range to build on the Marquette lead. Kamryn Olson would bring the Maroons within one after a shot from beyond the arc. Julia Ott would get in on the action after a pass from Sienna Lingle led to another Redette basket. The Redettes continued to score with Cora Anderson cashing in a three point play. Menominee looked to battle back by drawing some key fouls and brought the score within four. A steal and score from Ott would continue to showcase the Marquette defense along with many forced turnovers. Gianna Coduti would rally with under a minute left to cut the deficit to three for the Maroons.
Halftime: Marquette 22 – Menominee 19
Menominee would hit the first basket of the second hand after a mismatch led to Anna Axtell capitalizing. The Maroons would tack on another two points in an offensive blitz early, and sway the lead back in their direction. The Redettes would get back on top after a three pointer from Brooke Logan. The lead would change several times as Menominee took it back after a Kamryn Olson three. The Redettes were able to battle back coming down with the majority of rebounds leading to quick baskets and drawing fouls. Marquette did their best to pull away after a fast break basket from MacPhee put the Redettes up by six as the quarter came to an end.
Both teams continued to battle to start off the final eight minutes. Marquette would build their biggest lead of the night however after a breakaway layup from Sienna Lingle. Turnovers continued to plague the Maroons as Marquette’s defense continued the pressure. Menominee struggled to find the bottom of the basket as Marquette built on to their lead on the other end. The Maroons would find themselves at the free throw line to try and build a comeback. The Redettes however were able to stifle the Maroons offense and would walk out with the victory.
FINAL: Marquette 48 – Menominee 39
The Marquette Redettes are back in action on Friday 2/10 when they travel to Kingsford for another GNC match-up against the Flivvers. Tip off is set for 7:30pm EST with Luke Ghiardi on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9!
