Marquette Boys Soccer Faces Defeat to Traverse City West 4-0

Marquette, Mi–August 20th- The Marquette boys varsity soccer team hosted Traverse City West on Saturday, August 20 at the Kaufman Sports Complex.
Marquette’s defense was under heavy pressure from the start. Traverse City or TC put 14 shots on sophomore keeper Edan Hautamaki, four found the back of the net earning TC a 4-0 halftime lead. To keep the players in high spirits, coach Dan Salmon gave a pep talk “Traverse City West is good and we knew that so I challenged the boys to not give up in the second half.” TC continued with an onslaught of shots, Marquette held them to no more goals. Hautamaki saw 13 shots in the second half, ending the game 4-0 score, naming Traverse City as the victor.
Despite Marquette’s loss, Dan Salmon stayed in high spirits, and praised the teams performance “I felt we played better in the second but it was a great learning experience for our young team.”
As of the 20th, Marquette is 2-2 on the year, and will be hosting Boyne City at the Kaufman Sports Complex Tuesday the 23rd at 5pm.
