Marquette, MI – January 5th, 2025 – Jenessa Eagle’s high school basketball career has been nothing short of remarkable, marked by steady growth, historic achievements, and elite-level production.
Eagle earned a spot on the varsity roster as a freshman, giving her the opportunity to develop under one of the area’s top coaches, Ryan Reichel. She made an immediate impact, helping the Hematites post a 16–7 record and earning First Team All-Conference honors in her debut season.
Her sophomore campaign proved to be historic. The Hematites captured their first-ever state championship in school history, winning the Division 4 title with a dominant 28–1 record. Eagle delivered one of the biggest performances of her career in the state championship game, scoring 27 points in a 73–54 win over Kingsley. Her efforts earned her Second Team All-State recognition, First Team All-Region honors, and a spot on the Dream Team.
Following the graduation of key seniors after the championship, Eagle stepped fully into a leadership role as a junior and emerged as the team’s star. She guided the Hematites to an 18–6 record, with the season ending in a hard-fought 51–43 loss to Calumet in the district championship. Eagle averaged 22 points per game while shooting an efficient 48 percent from the field, adding six rebounds and four assists per contest. Her standout season was rewarded with First Team All-State honors from the Associated Press, BCAM, and the Detroit Free Press.
Now, in her senior season, Eagle has continued her dominance, leading the Hematites to a 5–0 start. In a game against Jeffers, on December 30, she etched her name into the school record books by becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,379 career points, surpassing Caden Luoma’s previous mark of 1,364 set last season. With plenty of basketball still to play, Eagle will continue to build on that total.
In December, Eagle officially signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her basketball career at Michigan Technological University, taking the next step in an already impressive journey. Eagle and the Hematites return to action tomorrow when they face Gwinn at Northern Michigan University’s Vandament Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
