The Marquette Redmen once again won the opening draw, but immediately lost control of the puck on a failed dumping attempt. Just a few minutes into the second period, Marquette received their second penalty of the game, but they were able to hold off the Eskimos, returning to full strength without giving up a goal. Both teams were playing some great defense, however, the Redmen continued to outshoot the Eskimos. As the period neared it’s end, Marquette suffered another penalty, but they were able to prevent any more goals before the end of the quarter.

Escanaba started the final period of the game with lead of a single goal, and they also had the remnants of a power play from the end of the second quarter. The Eskimos were unable to score, but things were getting desperate for the Marquette Redmen, who gave up another penalty with just under nine minutes left in the game. The clean first period was a distant memory as the final quarter wore down for the Redmen as they continued to give the Eskimos penalties in their attempt to make a comeback. Marquette pulled their goalie for the second game in a row, but even that wasn’t enough to even the score and force another overtime game.
