Wings Streaking In The Wrong Direction, Pistons Win And Northern Michigan Hockey

Marquette, MI – The Detroit Red Wings are once again on a four game losing streak. Sunday was a day in which they had a good chance to get back up on their feet against the Minnesota Wild. The Wild center Zach Parise scored twice and goalie Devan Dubnyk made 30 saves to help pull the Western Conference-leading Wild to a 6-3 victory. The Red Wings were led by Anthony Mantha who had a goal and an assist. The Red Wings now look forward to the St.Louis Blues on Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena.

The Detroit Pistons snapped a 4 game losing streak on Sunday as they defeated Toronto Raptors 102-101. The Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope knocked down a three point shot with 13.2 seconds left to lead the Pistons to victory. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ended the game with 21 points. The Pistons were led by Tobias Harris who had 24 points off the bench while starter Andre Drummond had 10 points and 18 rebounds. The Pistons now direct their attention to the Milwaukee Bucks who they face tonight in Milwaukee.

Over the weekend the Northern Michigan Wildcats hockey team took on Alaska-Fairbanks at home for a two game series. Wildcats goalie Atte Tolvanen tied an NCAA record with his fifth straight shutout while leading the Wildcats to another win. The Wildcats swept Alaska over the weekend winning 2-0 and 3-0. Tolvanen has gone 335:39 without giving up a goal. Northern Michigan will travel to Minnesota State for two games this weekend.
