
Marquette, MI – The Indians clinched the division Monday night, Tuesday night was a different story. Tigers Justin Verlander struck out a season high 12 batters, and the Tigers blew out the Indians 12-0 to pull within a game of the American League second wild card. Miguel Cabrera and Justin Upton both added three run bombs, offensively the Tigers pounded the ball. Miguel Cabrera clinched his 12th straight season with 100 RBI and Justin Verlander got seven of his twelve strikeouts on guys swinging, his most in a game since 2009. The Tigers face the Indians tonight in the third game of their four game series. The Tigers will send Michael Fulmer to the mound to face Zach McAllister, game time is at 7:05pm.
The Detroit Red Wings pre-season began last night as they battled the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins. The Red Wings picked up a pair of key goals from Mitch Callahan while Jimmy Howard and Jared Coreau were in net. The Red Wings won the contest 4-2 and are headed to Boston to play the Bruins tonight, game time beginning at 7:00pm.
Bryce Burge stopped in today to talk about the new hockey team in town, the Marquette Mutineers. Bryce is the general manager of the newly put together hockey team. They’re holding tryouts this Saturday at the Berry Events Center from 3pm to 6pm. Bring your pads and gear and be ready for full-contact hockey. The fee to tryout is $30 and the public is welcome to watch.
