Tigers are hot and Football Friday
- Updated: September 23, 2016
Marquette, MI – Detroit’s makeup game against the Minnesota Twins felt like a little league game. The attendance from the night before was 18,374 but due to rain the game was called and those who went could return for the makeup game. The afternoon game consisted of an attendance less than 400 people. The Tigers did what they had to do and came out on top with a 9-2 victory. Justin Upton hit yet another home-run to put the Tigers 1 game back of the AL wild card race.
After game 1, came game 2. Justin Verlander tied a season high 11 strikeouts and the offense had just enough support to win 4-2. Detroit moved into the second AL wild card spot with the victory due to Baltimore losing to Boston. The Tigers begin a crucial three game series with the Kansas City Royals beginning tonight at 7:10pm. The Tigers will send Michael Fulmer to the mound going up against Royals Danny Duffey.
The Marquette Redmen travel to Gladstone tonight to take on the Braves. Marquette is 1-3 on the season and look to gain ground in the Great Northern Conference with a win tonight. The Braves are also 1-3 and are looking to improve their record and get their first win in regulation. The Braves have a win from a forfeit in week two.
