Redettes Great Start, Red Wings Finally Win And Spartans

Marquette, MI – 12/6/17 – The Marquette Senior High School Girls Basketball team is off to an impressive 3-0 start on the young season. Last night in their home opener the Redettes defeated the Gladstone Braves 56-36. The Redettes were led by Sydney Kivi who had 13 points and 8 rebounds followed up by Bridget Pliska who added 19 points and 8 rebounds. Senior Chole Hale led the team with a high of 7 assists. The Redettes will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Escanaba to take on the Eskymos.
The Detroit Red Wings won for the first time in seven games with a 5-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Red Wings winger Gustav Nyquist had two goals and an assist. Justin Abdelkader, Darren Helm and David Booth also added goals for the Wings. The last time the Red Wings had a victory was back on November 17th when they defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-1. The Wings will be back in action on Saturday when they face the St.Louis Blues.
The Michigan State Spartans battled the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Tuesday night and came out on top with a 62-52 victory. The Spartans were led by Miles Bridges who had 21 points followed up by Josh Langford who had 15 points on 6 of 20 shooting. The Spartans blocked 13 shots in the contest for a season high led by Jaren Jackson Jr. Michigan State will return home on Saturday to play Southern Utah.
