Marquette, MI – March 24th, 2026 – This week, Coach Dave Slette joined us to talk about his Superiorland Ski Team, which captured a state title this past weekend in Traverse City. During our conversation, we spent the first half getting to know Coach Slette and learning more about the sport itself before diving into the team’s recent championship performance.
It was great to learn about the different types of skis and races the teams competed in over the three-day event, all while working to earn enough points to secure the state title.
In the final minutes of the show, Coach Slette shared a fascinating story about how the scoring was initially miscalculated. At first, it appeared there was a tie for first place, but after a recount, officials discovered an error that ultimately put Superiorland on top. He also described what it meant for his team to hear their name announced as champions and the feeling of lifting the trophy.
