Trenton, MI – January 31, 2025 – Marquette High School Hockey stayed in Trenton, Michigan today for the second day of the MIHL Showcase at Kennedy Ice Arena. After last night’s big win over the Riverview Gabriel Richard Pioneers, the Sentinels hit the ice ready to keep the momentum rolling against the Grandville Bulldogs! Fans tuned in live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, where Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey delivered play-by-play coverage of every moment.
First Period
Grandville opened the scoring early, but Marquette answered back quickly. A beautiful sequence from Andreson to Spagnola to Mandala, then a slick drop to Seth Sandstrom, went around the net and then sent the puck opposite direction he was skating and faked out the goalie to get Marquette their first goal on net this game.passed the goalie. The energy didn’t stop there, another quick play from Cooper Anderson set up Jacob Spagnuolo for a goal on the right side of the net.With two goals in quick succession, Marquette High School Hockey was in full control, dominating puck possession in the Grandville zone. The rest of the period featured strong back-and-forth action, but no further goals were scored.

Second Period
Marquette kept the pressure high in the second period. A gorgeous top-shelf goal from Cooper Anderson, assisted by Evan Mattila, gave the Sentinels a comfortable lead. Grandville’s defense held strong, limiting opportunities, but Marquette High School Hockey made sure the scoreboard stayed in their favor.

Third Period
The final period was a tense back-and-forth battle. Both teams had opportunities, but neither was able to convert for the first half of the period. Grandville finally broke through and sneaked one past Parker Nevenhoven, tightening the score. But Marquette held strong, controlling the puck and keeping Grandville from catching up. With just a minute left, the Sentinels defended fiercely to secure the win.
