Marquette, MI – January 24th, 2026 – Marquette returned home after last weekend’s downstate trip, where they faced top teams Hartland and Brighton, looking to bounce back against a ranked Escanaba squad they had beaten earlier in the season. The night also featured Marquette Junior Hockey Day at Lakeview Arena, adding extra excitement to the matchup.
The Sentinels set the tone early as Trey Savola tipped in the opening goal at 12:21 of the first period. Marquette dominated play, outshooting Escanaba 14–3 in the opening frame and taking a 1–0 lead into the break. In the second period, Brody Sheldon scored short side at 10:08, and Seth Sandstrom finished a 2-on-1 late in the period, with Sheldon earning the assist, to make it 3–0.
Escanaba cut into the lead early in the third on a goal by Parker Menard, but Marquette answered with a Jack Pond power-play goal. Brody LaMire added a length-of-the-ice goal, and Escanaba’s Gunnar LaMarche closed out the scoring as Marquette secured a 5–2 win.
Marquette is back in action next weekend at the MIHL Showcase in Trenton, facing Gabriel Richard Friday night at 8:30 and Grandville Saturday at 2:00 p.m., with coverage on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and 99.9.
