Marquette, MI – December 9th, 2025 – For this week’s Big Local Sports Show, we were fortunate to be joined by Marquette High School hockey coach Doug Garrow.
Garrow grew up playing hockey in Marquette before heading to Minnesota to skate with the Rochester Mustangs. He later received an offer to play at Northern Michigan University, making it an easy decision to return home and become a Wildcat. At NMU, Garrow played four seasons (1986–1990), and tallied 23 goals and 32 assists in 134 games. After his playing career, he returned to the program as an assistant coach for the Wildcats.
When the Marquette High School coaching position opened in 2013, Garrow applied quickly, and the rest is history. He is now entering his 13th season behind the bench, a tenure that has even included the special opportunity to coach his own son.
