Aiden Hutchinson Inks New Deal

Marquette, MI – October 30th, 2025 – The Detroit Lions look to ensure their future by signing pass rusher Aiden “Hutch” Hutchinson to a four-year contract extension valued at $180 million, which includes $141 million in guaranteed money. This deal makes him the second-highest paid non-quarterback in the league behind Micah Parsons.

Hutchinson joined the Lions in 2022, when they drafted him second overall from the University of Michigan. During his time at Michigan, he set the single-season sack record (14 sacks) and finished as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 2021. Landing with the Lions allowed him to stay home as he is from Plymouth.

His impact was instantly felt during his rookie season as he racked up 9.5 sacks and 3 interceptions, falling just short of Defensive Rookie of the Year. In year two, he finished with 11.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and one interception, becoming one of the best pass rushers in the league.

The 2024 season began in a familiar way for Hutchinson until a pivotal moment in Week 6 during a game at Dallas. While sacking Dak Prescott, his leg became trapped in the turf, resulting in fractures to both his tibia and fibula. Hutch underwent emergency surgery that night to insert a metal rod for stabilization. This injury ended his season after five games, despite his strong start with 7.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

His journey back to the field wasn’t easy, as it took him 11 months to build back the strength and muscle to get back on the field. On October 13th, against the Chicago Bears, Hutchinson would make his long-awaited return, in which 64,000 people got out of their seats to applaud and celebrate the moment. It didn’t take long for Aiden to get back into the swing of things as he beat Braxton Jones around the edge, resulting in a sack on Caleb Williams. After the game, Hutch was noted as calling it a “flipping of the page moment.” With this deal, he can now begin a new chapter, and Lions fans across the globe hope it ends with a ring.
