Marquette, MI – August 6th, 2025 – In recent days, the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) has formed several new partnerships, solidifying its position as a go-to destination for sports fans.
This past Tuesday, the NFL and ESPN announced a landmark agreement. As part of this deal, ESPN will acquire the rights to the NFL Network, the NFL RedZone channel, and various media assets. In exchange, the NFL will receive a 10% equity stake in ESPN. Disney CEO Robert Iger commented, “Today’s announcement paves the way for the world’s leading sports media brand and America’s most popular sport to deliver an even more compelling experience for NFL fans.” Analysts estimate that the NFL’s stake in ESPN could be valued at between $2 billion and $3 billion. You won’t see changes this year, but you will definitely need to watch for the changes to effect how you enjoy pro football in 2026.
NFL football isn’t the only focus for ESPN. Beginning in 2026, ESPN will exclusively stream WWE’s Premium Live Events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble. This development follows a $1.6 billion deal between WWE and ESPN. ESPN expressed excitement about enhancing the “E” in ESPN during this critical moment in their direct-to-consumer journey. More details are expected to emerge in the upcoming weeks.
