Midland, MI – December 2, 2023 – The Marquette High School Hockey team continued their journey through Michigan, facing off against the Midland Chargers at the Midland Civic Center. John Thomsen and Joe Gaffney brought the action to life on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, delivering live updates straight from the stadium.
1st Period: The game kicked off with a perfect line goal from Tucker Welch, setting the tone for Marquette with an early 1-0 lead. The team demonstrated their prowess, securing the first goal of the game just one minute in.
Marquette 1 – 0 Midland
2nd Period: The second period began with Marquette enjoying a power play, but the play started off a bit sloppy. However, the team quickly regained their composure and put on an impressive performance. Teagan added another goal, bringing the score to 2-0. The momentum continued as Freeze netted a goal with support from Kyle Maura, resulting in two goals within a minute and a commanding lead of 3-0. Belkoyski contributed yet another goal, making it four goals within the first half of the period. Marquette showed their dominance with a fifth goal, an even-strength goal that brought the score to 5-0.
Marquette 5 – 0 Midland
3rd Period: The Chargers managed to break through Marquette’s defense on a power play, scoring their first goal of the game and narrowing the gap to 5-1. However, in the last 30 seconds, the Chargers struggled to overcome Marquette’s defenses once again, and the game concluded with Marquette securing a decisive victory.
FINAL: Marquette 5 – 1
