Marquette won the opening tip and ran a perfect play to open the game, but after that shot the game would slow down a little as neither team could find their grove in the early going.
Calumet’s Marybeth Halonen was on a roll in the first quarter, she dropped 10 of Calumet’s 12 points as Marquette scrambled to find a way to defender her. Maddie Carter was the hot hand for Marquette in the first, she had two jumpers and a field goal for five points.
Averie Kelly was able to knock down a jumper as time expired in the first quarter, Marquette would lead after one, 14-12.
Second quarter saw the Copper Kings take their first lead of the game. Marquette would only make two shots in the opening four minutes of the quarter as Calumet took full advantage. Marquette would also start the game 1-6 from the free throw line. Elli Djerf and Jana Loukus would hit a three-pointer for Calumet prompting a Marquette time out with about three minutes to go in the half.

Aspen Michelin would stop the bleeding momentarily as she knocked down a deep three to bring the Redettes to back down seven, 31-24, Calumet at the half. Marybeth Halonen would lead all scorers at the half, Sofia van den Ende lead Marquette with six.
The Redettes offensive struggles would continue into the third quarter as they gave up an 8-0 run in the first three minutes of the third. Maria Millado would break the run with a layup with about four minutes to go in the quarter, 39-26, Copper Kings and the struggles would continue through the quarter as the Redettes would only make four field goals in the quarter and were outscored 17-10 in the quarter. 48-34, Calumet.
The two sides battled back and forth throughout the fourth quarter as the Redettes would try to chip away at the Calumet lead, but Marquette’s free throw shooting and turnover would eventually do them in. A three-point play for Maria Millado would give them life with two minutes to go, but Calumet had the double-bonus and would not miss at the line.
The Redettes would unfortunately drop this one, 62-47. Marybeth Halonen would lead all scorers with 21, Maria Millado would finish with 15 for Marquette. The Redettes drop to 9-4 on the year.
