Marquette, MI – December 12, 2023 – The Marquette Hockey team hosted the Hancock Bulldogs at Lakeview Arena for a Great Lakes Conference game on Tuesday night. With both teams in the top 10 for Division 3 in the state, all the ingredients for a classic match up were there.
The two teams went back and forth for a large part of the first period. Physical play was showcased early on with neither team finding the net going into the first intermission. Things would change in the second as Marquette scored a line goal that was put in my Teagan Nevenhoven to give Marquette the one goal lead heading into the final period of play.
Marquette’s penalty kill unit went to work in the third period keeping the puck clear of their zone and battling off the Bulldog offense. Hancock had a great scoring chance, but Parker Nevenhoven would keep the shut out alive with a key save. With Hancock’s offense pressing in the final minutes it would be too little too late as Marquette would skate off with the conference win.
