Houghton, MI – November 21, 2023 – The Marquette Senior High School hockey team plays their third away game in a row against the Houghton Gremlins. John Thomsen and Joe Gaffney live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9!
1st Period: Marquette and the Gremlins pass the puck back and forth, playing in both zones in the first few minutes. A power play goal by the Gremlins makes the score 1-0 with 11 minutes left in the first period. Both teams play defensive as the seconds count down, no points being scored. Incredible action by Marquette with save after save in the last minutes of the first period.
2nd Period: Shots are taken, but not made by both teams in the beginning of the 2nd period. Marquette hack at the puck with 13 minutes left, looking for their first play. A second power play by the Gremlins with 6 minutes left remaining, Marquette trailing 2-0. They make a solid effort, getting out shot, but working hard with 3 minutes and 35 seconds remaining. Marquette takes the puck until the seconds run out.
3rd Period: This period moved slowly as the puck moved back and forth. Marquette still trailing 2-0 with 7:15 left to the period. Both teams play well, but neither score. The team started slowing down the passes, winding down, but still playing well until the game comes to an end.
