Hartland, MI – January 27, 2024 – After a tough loss against the Brighton Bulldogs last night, ending their impressive 15-game winning streak, the Marquette High School hockey team is determined to rebound. Tonight, they face the Hartland Eagles on their Senior Night, eager to turn the tide and regain their winning form. First Period:
Marquette initiates a great 3 on 2, but the shot is saved by Hartland’s goalie. A shot by Marquette goes just over the net, handing control back to Hartland. Despite Hartland leading in shot attempts 8-5, none hit the net, and the first period concludes with a tie of 0-0.

Second Period:
Both teams have close calls, with strong defenses preventing any goals halfway through the period. Marquette faces a 30-second penalty, and Hartland seizes the opportunity, scoring to take the lead 0-1. However, Marquette responds with Beerman scoring on a power play, tying the score 1-1. The game intensifies as Hartland quickly regains the lead, scoring again to make it 1-2.

Third Period:
Hartland’s shots are saved by Marquette’s goalie Parker Nevenhoven, but they manage to score with a backhand shot, extending their lead to 1-3. The Eagles showcase excellent puck possession, making it challenging for Marquette to find opportunities to shoot. Hartland continues to dominate, extending their lead to 1-5 and then 1-6. Goalie Parker Nevenhoven faces a barrage of shots from the Eagles, catching some but unable to prevent them from scoring. A backhand shot by Hartland secures another goal, sealing the final score at 1-7.
