Marquette Redmen Fall 2-1 to Hancock Bulldogs in Overtime
- Updated: December 14, 2017

December 14 – Marquette, MI – The Marquette Redmen fell to the Hancock Bulldogs 2-1 in overtime at home on Thursday, and the game was broadcast live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and online at foxsportsmarquette.com. The Redmen, who came into the game with a record of 4-2, were able to pick up their second straight home victory after a 3-2 overtime win against Warren De La Salle.
Marquette came out firing, but were unable to find the back of the net due to a stellar performance in net by Hancock goaltender Dawson Kero. The lone goal in the period went to the Bulldogs, and try though they might, the Redmen were unable to tie the game. After one period, the score stood 1-0 in favor of the Hancock Bulldogs.
The Redmen again came out with ferocity in the second period, putting their fair share of shots on the Hancock goal. They were unable to find the net until Hunter Doucette broke into the Hancock zone and tied the game at 1 goal apiece. Both teams fought hard, but neither was able to score after the Doucette marker, and the period ended 1-1.
Neither team was able to find the net in the third period, despite a close call for Marquette when Colin Gaffney took a shot that seemed to trickle past Dawson Kero and into the Hancock goal. The goal was waved off, however, as the referee had lost sight of the puck and blown the whistle. The game went to overtime, and at the 1:33 mark of the extra period, Hancock’s Austin Salani scored the game winner for the Bulldogs.
The Marquette Redmen fall to 4-3 on the season, and will look to bounce back on Thursday, December 21 when they head to Kingsford to take on the Flivvers. That game will begin at 7:00 P.M., and you can listen live at Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 or online at foxsportsmarquette.com.
