Check Out the Ice Under Cover Hockey Bash at Lions Field in Marquette Township
- Updated: February 10, 2018

Marquette, MI – February 10, 2018 – The Ice Under Cover Hockey Bash took place today at Lions Field in Marquette, and it was a great time! The event was a fundraiser to put a roof over the ice rink at Lions Field, and the festivities included a 3-0n-3 hockey tournament and an exhibition game between the Marquette Mutineers and the Northern Michigan University club hockey team. Ryan Ranguette and Luke Ghiardi were on the scene to bring you all the great hockey action on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and online at foxsportsmarquette.com.
Ryan and Luke were joined by several people over the course of the afternoon, including Major Discount, Marquette township manager Randy Girard, NMU club hockey president Cody Cesarz, and NMU club team captain Alex Svboda. They all shared one viewpoint: the afternoon was sure to be a lot of fun!
The game between the NMU club team and the Mutineers was a rather informal one, as there was no scoreboard, no referees, and only one bench! Nonetheless, the 4-on-4 game was a fun one, and both teams had a great time playing glorified pond hockey on the shorter-than-regulation rink. In the end, the Mutineers beat the NMU club team 7-5, but both teams had fun in the outdoor game.
The festivities will continue on Thursday, February 15, when NMU’s Division-I hockey team will play an exhibition on the Lions Field ice. After that, on Saturday, March 24 there will be a 3-on-3 boot hockey tournament to further raise funds for the roof over the Lions Field rink. Come on out and support Lions Field’s Ice Rink and have some fun!
