Marquette, Mi – June 16th, 2026 – Today, on the Big Local Sports Show, we were joined by Adam Rifenburgh, a former member of the mediaBrew Communications web department who recently transitioned into a new role that we explored later in the program. Adam brought a unique perspective to the show, sharing his passion for surfing and discussing his new position as Operations Director with Paddle Michigan. He shared one of his favorite surfing videos as he takes on the waves of Lake Superior (seen below).
In the first segment, we focused on Adam’s love for surfing. He explained how he got started in the sport, what continues to draw him to it, and the thrill of riding waves. We also discussed the different types of boards, the equipment surfers use, important safety considerations, and what newcomers should know before getting into the sport. During the second segment, the conversation shifted to Adam’s work with Paddle Michigan. As the organization’s new Operations Director, Adam provided an inside look at the various tours offered throughout the area and what visitors can expect when they sign up for an adventure. He also shared some of the memorable reactions guests have while experiencing the natural beauty of the region and discussed the planning, preparation, and safety measures that go into operating successful tours on the water.
