Marquette, MIDecember 22nd, 2016 – The Marquette Redmen hockey team was back on the air for the Big Game of the Week against the Kingsford Flivers. Marquette had an up and down start to the year, but they were looking strong coming into the game. They were the first to get onto the scoreboard off of a great give and go from the Phillips brothers with just over three minutes gone from the clock. The game looked to be firmly in Marquette’s control, and they added another goal from Spencer S. at 6:51 in the first. Marquette failed to clear the puck out of their zone, and at 9:19 gone from the first, the Flivers got onto the scoreboard, making it 2-1. Tanner Phillips got his second goal of the game on another feed from Joey Phillips, giving Marquette back their two-goal advantage. Right before the first period ended, Marquette committed a penalty, and that would give Kingsford a chance right as the first came to a close.

It was a scary third period for the Redmen, and with just over eight minutes left in the game, their lead was still a single point.
