Petoskey, MI- September 22, 2017- Another Friday night and another road game for the Marquette Redmen on Fox Sports Marquette. Marquette traveled down to Petoskey to take on the Northmen. It is a really tough schedule to start with. A lot of good opponents and most the games on the road make it tough to navigate. The Redmen were up for the challenge as tough as the schedule is they have played well in every game.

Right from the get go you knew this game was going to be a good one. Offensively this game was fun to watch as both teams would trade scores. It was a game of big play after big play. This was not to say that the defenses were shredded. They would hold up well, like I said big play after big play. Both teams would combine for seven turnovers throughout the game. So the defenses would come up with some very timely plays as well.

The Redmen would make a big mistake as the first half was finishing. It could have really costed them. Marquette would throw and interception while they were threatening to score and take a lead going into the half. With under a minute Petoskey would have a scored called back because of a penalty. The very next play the Northmen almost scored again but the Redmen defense would trip them up at the five yard line as time expired for the half.

It was a good start for Marquette in the second half. They started with the ball and drove down the field for a touchdown to retake the lead. Just like the first half of play, this game would go back and forth throughout. It seemed like every time a team would score the other team would come back with a big answer. This game would come down to the final minutes. It came down to a fourth and six from the Petoskey 19 for Marquette with 40 seconds left. And boy would they convert with a beautiful screen pass that would go in for a game winning touchdown. The Northmen would miss a 38 yard field goal as time expired and Marquette wins 27-26.

The Redmen are at home next week against Kingsford. You can check out their full schedule here. Kick off is at 7:30 and coverage will start at 7 on Fox Sports Marquette.
