Marquette, MI – October 14, 2016 – The first Marquette Senior High School Tailgate Party was today and it was huge success. With the big rivalry game between the Marquette Redmen and the Negaunee Miners the practice field and bleachers were packed! The two teams were battling it out on the field tonight for the Diamond Jubilee Trophy. The Negaunee Miners came away as tonight’s victor.
MAPS couldn’t have picked a better night to have their first tailgate. The Miners and Redmen have been playing each other on the football field since 1984! Today’s free event started at 5:30 and we had talent from Great Lakes Radio on site with Ryan from JR & Friends live all evening! Tons of community members from Marquette and Negaunee joined us for the rivalry game and to celebrate the grand reopening of the William R. Hart Stadium.
The first 100 people into the tailgate received a Jilbert Dairy coupon for a free scoop. People loved the continuous giveaways at the tailgate with 6 prizes behind raffled off every ten minutes! Visitors walked away with prices like MSHS jackets, River Valley Bank travel cups & umbrellas, Ore Dock Pint Glasses, $10 gift cards to Red Lobster and more. With 41 prizes in total everyone had a chance to win a gift to take home.
There were a number of local companies that helped make tonight a success including Aubree’s Pizzeria & Grill, Vollwerth’s King of Meats, U.P. Rehab Services, Tadych’s Econo Foods, U.P. Health System, Great Lakes Radio, Honor Credit Union, Marquette Area Public Schools, Northern Michigan University, Culver’s, Phil’s 550 Store, Vango’s, Sayklly’s, Casa Calabria, Applebee’s, Red Lobster, ManPower, Border Grill, Doghouse Pub, Marquette Senior High School, Main Street Pizza, Getz’s, Cruise-n-Coffee, Togo’s, Wells Fargo Bank, and Buffalo Wild Wings. All and All tonight was a great community event at Marquette Senior High School.
