Marquette, MI – Justin Upton and James McCann each added home runs as the Detroit Tigers picked up a big win after losing two in Oakland 7-3 over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night. Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander went six and two thirds innings giving up three runs, seven hits and three walks while striking out seven. The Tigers also made a change in the bullpen promoting relief pitcher Justin Wilson to the closer role to take over for struggling Francisco Rodriguez. The Tigers will finish their two game series tonight at 9:40 pm when Matt Boyd (2-2) will toe the rubber against triple-A call up Zach Godley.
The NHL playoffs have been a doozy this past week, Joey Enright stopped in to chime in on his thoughts this morning. Last night the New York Rangers were eliminated by the Ottawa Senators 4-2. Tonight two game sevens will be underway with the Pittsburgh Penguins taking on the Washington Capitals in Washington at 7:30 pm and the Anaheim Ducks taking on the Edmonton Oilers at 10 pm.
