Marquette, MI – June 3, 2019 – The Negaunee Miners defeated the Westwood Patriots and then the Calumet Copper Kings Saturday en route for a district championship, the Miners 2nd in as many years. Prior to last year, the Miners had never won a softball district championship. Head Coach Randy Carlson joined the Sports Drive to talk about his special group of girls, and what’s to come when Negaunee hosts the regional tournament on Saturday.
The Negaunee softball team were not the only Negaunee program to earn a district championship Saturday. The Miners baseball team defeated Superior Central in walk-off fashion in the semi-finals then turned around and defeated Calumet for the district crown. Tyler Young was on the call and joined the Sports Drive in studio to discuss the Miners’ run.
