Marquette, MI – December 6, 2018 – The first week of the girls basketball is underway and both Marquette and Gwinn have played their first games. Ben Smith, coach of the Marquette Redettes, and Ben Olsen, coach of the Gwinn Modeltowners, joined Luke on the Sports drive to talk about their starts to the season.
The Marquette Redettes defeated Gladstone Tuesday 50-31 to kick off their season and conference play with a win. Ben Smith talked about his team’s season-opening win, his depth, and previewed the upcoming Petoskey Invitational, which the Redettes kick off against Brighton at 5:30pm on Friday on Fox Sports Marquette.
Ben Olsen’s Gwinn Modeltowners started off their season on the losing end, dropping their opener to Bark River 52-42. Coach Olsen talked about his team needing to get into better shape, but ultimately thinks his team will be fine moving forward.
