Marquette, MI – September 21, 2018 – Week 5 of the High School football season is here. On the shortened version of the Sports Drive today, Luke and Mark heard from 3 coaches ahead of their week 5 matchups.
After a defacto off week due to a forfeit from the Manistique Emeralds, the Negaunee Miners are back in action against their cross-town rival Ishpeming Hematites. Mark caught up with Miners head coach Paul Jacobson ahead of the huge WestPAC crossover game, where bragging rights for the year are at stake.
The Marquette Redmen have won their last 2 games, with last week’s game being a walk-off win against GNC foe Escanaba in overtime. The Redmen are flying high heading into their Homecoming game against the Petoskey Northmen. Luke talked with Redmen head coach Dave L’Huillier about Petoskey and how to keep his team focused on the task at hand on Homecoming week.
The Gwinn Modeltowners are 4-0 for the first time since 1998. After a 22-21 win against Hancock, the Modeltowners are at home for the first time tonight when they welcome in Houghton. Head Coach Dion Brown talked with Luke and Mark about the energy surrounding the program and what his team needs to do to get to 5-0.
