Marquette, MI – August 2, 2018 – The Sports Drive’s week-long concussion series continued today with two guests. The first, Northern Michigan University head football coach Kyle Nystrom. The second, MHSAA representative Geoff Kimmerly.
Coach Nystrom talked about how differently it is getting ready for the season with physicals and concussion baseline testing before players can even hit the field. He also talks participation numbers he sees while hitting the recruiting trail.
Geoff Kimmerly discussed the MHSAA spearheading rule changes to make the game safer. He also talked about football participation numbers, especially as it pertains to the U.P. The MHSAA will be releasing an injury report later this month.
The concussion series concludes tomorrow with Dr. Bryan Dixon as a guest.
