Marquette, MI – Jarrod Saltalamacchia’s bomb in the 8th inning was so high in the air the trajectory of the ball seemed like it wasn’t going to make it, that’s until the place erupted. Salty’s two run homer in the 8th inning lifted the Tigers to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Comerica on Monday night. Justin Wilson came in relief for Daniel Norris and recorded the win while Franciso Rodriguez earned his 423rd in his professional career moving ahead of Billy Wagner for fifth on the career saves list. The Tigers are now 4.5 back in the Central and 1 game behind the Baltimore Orioles for the final Wild Card spot.
Blaise Zimmer stopped in to bring us up to date on Marquette Senior High School Athletics. For most of the conversation he discussed the Marquette Redmen Varsity Football team’s game on Friday night which resulted in a loss to Traverse City St.Francis. Blaise brought up the temperature in the Superior Dome and how heat was affecting the players. This Thursday the Marquette Redmen football team travel to Traverse City to take on the Trojans of Traverse City Central, game time is at 7pm on Fox Sports Marquette.
